Anything other contribution:
I am currently funded to work on a terrestrial ecology project, but my PhD involved using and developing a trait-based approach to map and model the biodiversity of deep-sea hydrothermal-vent ecosystems. I am passionate about trying to conserve and protect these ecosystems and would love to be involved in such work where possible (even if my personal web page might look a bit strange in the future, with a mix of terrestrial and deep-sea ecology!).
Primary Expertise:
Secondary Expertise:
3 priority science questions that need to be answered:
How is deep-sea biodiversity distributed across the globe (i.e. are there hotspots of deep-sea biodiversity)? How can we best identify hotspots of deep-sea biodiversity for conservation prioritisation? What is the recommended sampling protocol to ensure a suitable assessment of biodiversity has been conducted (e.g., at a site being assessed for mining and/or oil and gas drilling).
